Councillor Michael Emm, a family man

Married to Louise with daughters Rhiannon and Sydney, Michael is a

 life long Whitby resident for over 50 years

Very experienced in municipal matters, Michael's political roots run deep in the Emm family. 

His father Gerry was on Durham Regional Council for 31 years. 

Michael has the business knowledge to get the job done.

I learned from a very young age, when my father was the president of Durham Recycling Inc., the  importance of reduce, reuse & recycle and the care of our natural resources - “These values I carefully use when adding my voice into those important council decisions,” says Councillor Emm.


Forward thinking Progressive Vision

As a lifetime Whitby resident, Councillor Emm's vision for Whitby is for residents to Live, Work and Play Safely in their community. 

Councillor Emm has continued "Real Positive Change" in Centre Ward.


  • Councillor Emm  continues to advocate  for our Seniors, he worked hard and secured a cross walk installed on Mary St.  
  • Councillor Emm supports and endorses Slow Down Whitby with signage and enforcement and will continue to work toward lowering speeds in residential areas.
  • Councillor Emm “Holds the line on Taxes” and refuses to use his Town expense account saving you money. 
  • Councillor Emm led the change to LED Street Lights. 
  • Councillor Emm champions for  Fire Safety in homes and apartments. 
  • Councillor Emm led the way to go paperless and  brought in live streaming and sign in kiosks at Town Hall Council.
  • Councillor Emm made the motion to remove the tolls off of the 412 Hwy and will continue to fight to remove them. 
  • Councillor Emm championed the No Nonsense  bylaw for our Downtown.
  • Councillor Emm's leadership has resulted in many rebuilt roads parks and  sidewalks in Centre Ward.
